Poetic Places

My home is wide open blue sky

The kind tourists take pictures of as they drive by

A Southwest that is safe

Open markets, multicultural plays

Art not subjugated to juried stays

A cafeteria pick of foods

Whole grains, smells of roasted chiles, too

High desert dry air

Colors rich, placed everywhere

Hot air balloons free to roam

Hideaways not always known

Trilingual sounds

Mountainous grounds

This is my home

What a beautiful poem! So full of imagery and emotion…awesome. The slideshow is great! My favorite is the balloon with the hearts! When we lived in Columbia, MO we had a balloon festival for a couple of years. I loved seeing them fly over the house.

A poem written straight from the heart expressing your strong ties to the Southwest. It is a poem that reveals your love and passion through words like, “… wide open blue skies”, “…smells of roasted chiles, too”, and “Colors rich…”. The slide show complements your poem perfectly with color, a sense of freedom and joy. Beautiful, Janice.

  3. Janice- I fell into the first line: My home is wide open blue sky

Someday I want to go to see that balloon festival. I took a trip in a balloon years ago…I won it in a drawing and it took me a year to get the courage to go!
This is a beautiful slide show and perfect for your wonderful poem.
